This placemat uses up some of my cotton yarn. The high contrast of the colors really makes the mosaic pattern pop. I probably should block it at some point because it’s a bit wonky around the edges. I think some fringe along the sides would be super cute.

I’ve been working with some blue speckle yarn I picked up at the store recently. The speckle pattern shows up nicely, but the color palate is too Eastery for my taste.

The baskets in the back are made with only the speckle yarn and the round one in front is using a strand of the speckle yarn with a grey yarn. Maybe I just use them as Easter decorations?
Here is a close up of the smaller square basket. Another thing about this yarn that I do not care for is this discoloration in a part of the speckle pattern. It reminds me of finding a burnt tortilla chip in the bag.

I feel like the round basket is a bit more versatile and this is the first one I’ve made using the crab stitch for the final row. I really like how it turned out and will make more this way in the future.
